The other day I answered the door to my postman. I was signing for stuff, like you do, when my kid came downstairs with only his underwear and a t-shirt on.
Now, the postman couldn’t see him from the front door, and I scribbled my signature and said, to my son, “You need to put some trousers on.”
My postman, very slowly, looked down at his trouser-clad legs with a mixture of confusion and horror, and then looked back up at me.
When I explained I was talking to my little boy out of his line of sight, he gave a very solemn nod and said: “I thought I’d put trousers on this morning, but suddenly when you said that, I really wasn’t sure.”
Years after this, I still have the same postman. He still always wears trousers, but every time I answer the door, I’m pretty sure we both remember this incident.

I think it’s BS.
The only reasoning I’ve ever seen people use for why men and women saying they’re attracted to nonbinary people is ‘fetishizing’ is that “not all nonbinary people look the same and not all nonbinary identities are the same so saying you’re attracted to nonbinary people makes no sense!!”…except that this reasoning can also be applied to people saying they’re attracted to men and women.
Not all men look the same or experience manhood in the same way, not all women look the same or experience manhood in the same way, and the difference in appearance and identity between one man and another or one woman and another can easily be the same as the difference in identity and appearance between two nonbinary people - two demigirls or two genderfluid people - between an agender person and a genderqueer person - etc etc etc.
And yet NO ONE is pulling this fetishization argument on wlw or mlm or even straight people. No one is out here saying, “how can you say you’re attracted to women/men? not all women/men look the same! not all women/men have the same personality! are you sure you’re not fetishizing women/men?” because it’s basic common sense that when someone says “I’m attracted to women/men” they don’t mean “I’m attracted to every single woman/man on the face of the earth because to me they’re all exactly the same with no difference between them”. It’s literally no different with mlnb or wlnb and people saying “I’m attracted to nonbinary people”.
Being attracted to nonbinary people (sexually, romantically, platonically) isn’t fetishizing in and of itself. In order for someone to be fetishizng us they would have to see our identities (and us by extension) as nothing more than a turn-on for them, they would have to not care or acknowledge that we are actual people with our own minds and our own thoughts and feelings, they would have to see and treat nonbinary people and nonbinary identities as little more than a means by which they could facilitate their own sexual fantasies and desires. A similar comparison is to look at attraction to women—being attracted to women in and of itself is not fetishizing or harmful, but the objectification of women and seeing them as nothing more than sex objects is, but we know that attraction to women does not automatically mean that someone is fetishizing/objectifying them. Attraction to nonbinary people (or to people of any gender identity) only becomes problematic when you forget that they are, in fact, people and start to consider your attraction to them to be more real than they are and see them as nothing more than a kink for you.

It’s not even just wants vs needs, it goes even further than that. People will make minimum wage or even slightly higher and feel like they can justify a smart phone. Meanwhile, walmart sells flip phones for less than $10 and has unlimited talk and text for 0.68 $/mo. This is just one example of how to save money. Honestly the vast majority of people are not smart at all when it comes to financial responsibility.

Remember when “Home Ec” class actually taught budgeting? Life was good.
I actually had a marketing class in high school that taught budgeting, how to write checks, stock market, etc. Like it isn’t hard to live below one’s means.
Perhaps everyone wouldn’t be getting sick so often if you all stopped being fucking thots.
Going out on a limb, I honestly feel like there are some bad genetics out there, perhaps those who have died were meant to expire from it. I can count the times I might have had the flu on one hand. A few days ago some stupid twat said I was a selfish asshole for not getting the vaccine????? Why get it? There’s no need if you’re healthy. There are definitely people out there creating spawn who shouldn’t. Sometimes this world is survival of the fittest.

Pretty fucking hard when missing a single day of work can cut your income by 10 to 20% for the pay period.
Also.. that $10 flip phone won’t do internet, and basically the premise here seems to be that minimum wage workers don’t need internet access, despite the fact that most places require you to have internet access to even apply for the job these days.
The cheap phones with basic plans won’t save you that much compared to how much not having ready access to Internet and the ability to text easily will hurt you. The pricetag for an iPhone feels really heavy, but you can get a payment plan for an older model and that’s not going to be anywhere near what missing a single day of work will do to someone making minimum wage.
I don’t know why people always go to cell phones? It’s really easy to make them reasonable without going to the cheapest possible option. Not to mention family plans are a thing…

i saw a really cool butterfly expert man on PBS and was so in awe of him and his butterfly knowledge i tracked down the episode online to see how to spell his name and found his twitter and followed him, only for the next day to awaken to him having read not only my webcomic, but also my livetweets saying how i wanted to marry the butterfly man. he said he was flattered. anyway the moral of the story is please don’t underestimate how far down your twitter a bored entomologist will scroll, and also the internet was a mistake.
