as if i already didn’t love and respect marisha ray to the high heavens, today’s episode of Between The Sheets made me believe in her even more. and is2g after today no one is ever allowed to pettily or needlessly hate on marisha for the stupidest, littlest, most invalid things. she’s not perfect, but she’s always been more than what the petty ppl think she is. she’s a lot braver than i think even those of us who already love her have always thought she was. we always knew she was a sword, we just never really saw the forging that sharpened her blade, tightened her grip and gilded her scabbard.
the fact that after everything she went through, despite all the ridiculous vitriol she gets, the part that hurts her the most is that other people might be turned off by or even fear the nerd and D&D communities in general because of the kind of shit people throw her way on a regular basis says so much about her and what really matters to her. and it’s not about being a martyr, it’s just about knowing her own strength and knowing that she can take it if it means that other people don’t have to. that’s a level of selflessness we don’t see a lot.
there were a lot of quotable quotes from her this episode, but the ones that will stick with me forever are “You’re not weak, you were wronged, and if someone can’t take no for an answer and attack you for it, then you tell me which one of you is the weak one” and “don’t steal other people’s joy.” it’s easy to see them separately, but they definitely work together both in and out of the context that marisha said them, and those are things we can all take to heart. we’d all be far better off with ourselves and with each other.
