me explaining half of sukkot: we build a little hut in our gardens and eat in there (and some people sleep in them!) bc it commemorates our nomadic lifestyle as we wandered through the desert for 40 years and it’s designated as a happy festival and it’s p great
me explaining the other half of sukkot: we uh hold a special lemon next to some long leaves and shake em bc god is everywhere
I told my non-Jewish friends that Sukkot is one of our more objectively weird holidays. They were fascinated and asked for more information.
I also specifically mentioned praying for rain, which seems like an odd choice when sleeping under a roof that has to have holes in it.
