This is from Calamity Jane, arguably my problematic fave Doris Day role, and the movie goes on to be even more gay until both ladies marry their beards in a double wedding and run away on a double honeymoon together. P gay for the 1950s. Warnings for hella anti-Native racism, though, unsurprisingly. This was an era where media was fond of “cowboys and indians” false narratives. Also includes a very gay-coded theater man who cross dresses for a stage act and gets heckled off stage bc he’s not pretty enough, so heads up for that too.
