on tonights news: asexual or aromantic folks, while not having some of the same experiences as other lgbt groups, still deserve to be able to find safety in our community because they go through enough shit from people who youd think would understand their struggles and empathize………. more at 10

also no group in the community has the same experiences of the other groups. lesbians don’t have the same experiences as gay men. bisexual people don’t have the same experiences as lesbians or gay men. transgender people don’t have the same experiences as bisexual people. if we’re gonna base it on 100% shared experiences then our community wouldn’t have this many groups, which I know is what the white gays want but that’s not actually what our community is about

Emilia Clarke, of “Game of Thrones,” on Surviving Two Life-Threatening Aneurysms

I need to reblog this one too. This has shocked me so much.

Oh my god I’m crying. I had no idea. How she kept going through all of this is astounding.

Anyway, cancel culture is toxic af and needs to die

Cancel culture is a terrifying 1 strike and you’re out system with no ability to say your side or even have your side of events acknowledged.

Cancel culture is even worse when it digs up things people did years ago that hey have apologized and no longer stand for

It’s awful honestly. We’ve all done or said ignorant or hurtful things at some point in our lives. The idea that somebody could bring up something we said or did in the past that we’re personally ashamed of today, and use it to vilify us, it a terrifying one.

There’s another reason why “cancelling” somebody over something they said or did years ago that they no longer stand by is awful as well. If a person is condemned for something they did in the past, regardless of how much time has passed, then what motivation do people have to change?

And also, everyone fucks up. But you can always do better, and we need to make space for people who want to be better.

Transgender pastors Alexya Salvador, Cindy Bourgeois, and Allyson Robinson lead mass in a church in Matanzas, Cuba, on May 5, 2017, during a three-day conference on transgender theology, ahead of the tenth anniversary of Cuba celebrating the global day against homophobia. The mass, held by the Matanzas branch of the Metropolitan Community Church, was the first time a trans pastor had ever celebrated holy communion in Cuba. [link]

i dunno whos running his social media but i wanna kiss them. i think im in love

move the fuck over bernie

i remember like mike gravel in 2008 lol

Remember that ad where he threw a rock into a lake and then stared into the camera unblinking for two minutes? I desperately want shit like that back

An 88-year-old ex-senator is the newest Democratic dark horse thanks to the ‘acerbic’ teens running his Twitter

That account, along with his whole campaign, is the work of three teenagers.

From the article:

“These young students contacted me a week ago asking would I run for president and I responded to them saying, ‘Do you realize how old I am?’” Gravel told The Washington Post. “I’ll be 89 years old in May, so it’s preposterous to think that I could serve as president.”

It took some convincing, but Gravel was ultimately persuaded by a three-page strategy memo that the students drafted and their assurance that they would handle all of the day-to-day work of the campaign. Their ultimate goal wasn’t to win the election but rather to qualify him for the Democratic debates, so that he could use that platform to “issue a critique of American militarism, plutocracy, and inaction on climate,” as his newly-created website states.

“These people weren’t just whistling Dixie,” Gravel said. “They were well-grounded.”

Managing the campaign are David Oks, 17, and Henry Williams, 18. Elijah Emery, 18, handles the finances.

Incredible…

You know what’s wild? Remembering that children hear things for the first time without context and are literally like, “What?”

I just said “See you later, alligator” to a four-year-old and I think it was the first time they had ever heard that.  They froze in their tracks, looked at me completely bewildered then replied, “See you later, chicken” and kept walking.

You know, in retrospect, having gay marriage as a debate topic when I was the only openly gay kid in class was SUPER WEIRD. Imagine if you walked into AP Gov and your teacher pointed at you like, “I don’t think Brian should have health insurance because he sucks. Discuss?”

I know this is a joke and your point is 100% correct but that’s literally what happens to disabled people
