nissastuff:

I am the proud mother of a wonderful 22 year old transgender daughter. Recently she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a painful and debilitating chronic illness. There is no cure.
I have an L2 compression wedge fracture on my spine with some disks affected by degeneration. I was working, but this injury became aggrivated when I was reinjured in my job (Mental Health Sector) and tried to stop a person I was supporting from being assaulted also.
Neither of us are capable of working right now. I am currently on eighty percent of my wages. Bills are piling up, our medical bills alone are almost $200 dollars a month. We have to choose between food or medical bills at times. We constantly juggle what little finances we have to survive. This week we didnt get petrol so I could pick up some suppliments from the health store for her.
We both suffer from CPTSD.
I am exhausted but I am managing to support my daughter who is living with me. There are days her chronic pain is so bad she cannot get out of bed, or mobolise much. At times even her skin hurts. Our electricity bill is horrific as one of the only things that gives her comfort is long hot baths.
We also need to pick up items to make my daughter’s life easier and more comfortable (Pillows, a cane, new supplements, medication,a collection of soft rugs, a walker, mattress, comfortable chair etc)
I have never asked for anything in my life. We have no family and or friends able to help. She doesnt want her father in her life, for very good reason, and I respect her decision.
If you feel able to donate to us, my daughter’s Paypal is ninjenkins@gmail.com , and we could really use anything you can give. Even if you can’t give, thank you for reading, and if you could please share and reblog this I’d sincerely appreciate it.
I have no expectations or sense of entitlement and would not have asked you for assistance if I didnt feel so desperate. I dont know what else to do.
Thank you for taking the time to read this

We thought tumblr didn’t understand their own website but then they sent a mass callout post baselessly accusing users of being Russian spies so maybe they understand their website better than we could have ever imagined.

Except it wasn’t baselessly, there was a lot of investigation going on and BuzzFeed managed to call out Tumblr on their inability to handle the situation in the slightest.

https://www.buzzfeed.com/craigsilverman/russian-trolls-ran-wild-on-tumblr-and-the-company-refuses?utm_term=.fq5elMeb#.qlvK50Kd

Calling it ‘baseless’ when there was evidence that a lot of these accounts mirrored confirmed Russia troll accounts that were used to divide a userbase and promote Russian propaganda is absolutely harmful. It’s not baseless. An investigation was made, Russian spies were discovered and their accounts eliminated.

That’s the farthest cry from ‘baseless’ I’ve ever seen. Maybe you didn’t have the full scope, which is fine, but you have the information now, so please don’t falsely spread the idea that it was baseless.

Getting caught up! I took a sort of social media hiatus in February because I had gotten too busy with freelance projects and honestly I needed a break. Here are some fantasy type things I drew.

Honestly I think one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself is to separate your negative qualities from your identity.

Instead of saying “I’m lazy,” saying “I’ve made a habit of not doing work unless it’s absolutely necessary.” Instead of saying “I’m a bad friend,” saying “I haven’t communicated as much as I should with the people I care about.”

By being specific about your problems, and by framing it as an action that you are consciously either working on or ignoring rather than an unchangeable part of who you are, you allow yourself to accept your mistakes and work constructively on them instead of pretending they didn’t happen or wallowing in blaming yourself.

As a trans guy who’s been working out for a few years now and has learned a lot about their body and building muscle and whatnot in the process, here’s something I don’t see mentioned, like ever.

Abs don’t really look Like That™

when they’re relaxed.

Here’s a few examples from a Reddit thread asking for pictures of people both flexing and not flexing their abs

I rarely see male body positivity posts in general but I’ve never seen this mentioned, and honestly? Call me stupid for it if you want, but I genuinely thought that super defined look was something that was achievable in a relaxed state, simply because I’ve never seen anything to the contrary.

As someone with body dysmorphia as well as dysphoria, you can imagine the damaging effects that might have had on my mental health trying by to achieve the impossible. I can only imagine how many other masculine folk out there could be struggling with the exact same thing.

Anyway like, this is mostly to point out for masculine folks that might be pushing themselves too hard, that you’re probably doing better than you realise.

Anecdotal stuff aside, this is an important thing for artists to remember as well! This is something I never realised despite being an artist that goes to figure drawing classes on the regular and having modelled for them myself- because of course people with abs are flexing for the poses! I was doing it too!- Admin Pasta
