So, this is interesting. This is a really polite way for a dog to get a human to stop doing something it doesn’t super like (the paw hold) by changing to affection. In a way, it’s giving the human a replacement behavior.
You can see a slight change in expression when the person grabs it’s paw. There’s no overt stress, but the dog isn’t a fan. Instead of reacting by moving away, it takes the paw and gives the human it’s head to scratch. Polite appeasement and affection! Cute and good to see.
