i legitimately cannot describe the feeling i get when i see like a 150k kickstarter for a fandom project or like ao3’s monthly fundraiser being filled within a week while people have to beg for money to buy medicine and housing and stuff and that shit is like 10k and it wont get funded ever or if it does it takes YEARS
like it makes me want to die lol it’s such a visible difference
hey op can you not blame women and queer content creators for the ills of capitalism like…can you see how that isn’t a good look?
or try this instead: every time you want to read a book or buy yourself a top or go to a movie, donate to a fundraiser instead. hmm? see how this works? see how there’s no comparison between the two things at all?
like…people are allowed to support the things that bring joy to their lives. we’re all suffering, we all need help. a little money towards keeping ao3′s servers running is…fine. ao3 does a lot for people in fandom. I’m sure you’ve read fic on it. you may even have posted to it. keeping that going isn’t a crime.
and anyway: what makes you think that the people who are donating to ao3 don’t also donate to medical fundraisers and suchlike? why is it one or the other?
