honestly… like…. its okay to want to live and its okay to be enthusiastic about things

i think we occasionally trick ourselves into the belief that it is more ideologically correct to be miserable or feel doomed but the truth is… its not. there is no morality involved. you dont have to ask permission or have extenuating circumstances to be allowed to feel joy.

especially as marginalized people i think we lure ourselves into the security of despair. and im not saying there arent things to feel despondent or hopeless about, because there are certainly many. still, anyone who would prefer you remain miserable, anyone who would treat your success or happiness as ideologically impure.. may be struggling, but they do not have your best interests in mind.

treating hope as frivolity is a habit many of us are prone to but not something we should gain as part of our political belief systems. just in general, you are under no moral obligation to prolong your own suffering
