Along with that last reblog, I hate when people say stuff like “Charity just shifts the blame to invididuals instead of capitalism” or “Pushing individual people to recycle just helps corporations avoid the blame for polluting.”
Because you don’t feed the homeless to destroy capitalism. You don’t reduce your carbon footprint to end global warming.
You do it because you have made a personal decision about your values and how you want to live your life. Don’t fake like not volunteering is somehow more radical than actually giving your time, energy, and your money to important causes.
It’s awfully convenient that the most radical course of action just happens to be the same apathy you were doing before you got radical.
