fun fact my cat & i are both blind so we accidentally run into each other sometimes, but bc im much louder than he is, when we get close to each other he chirps to warn me he’s there

I had a similar problem! My late cat was black and we had really dark wood floors in the house. At night it was impossible to see him and he loved to lay down in walkways. After getting his tail stepped on a few times, he learned to meow/chirp to warn us that he was there. (He would do it in the daytime too. I dont think he realized that it was only a problem at night.)

As he got older he lost his hearing. Since he couldnt hear himself his meows got….. a bit strange.

Just imagine walking to the kitchen at night and suddenly hearing a very shrill “hhMrrrrrrrrrWAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!” from the floor in front of you.
