This!! I cannot stress how absolutely positively essential this is. Especially since it isn’t easy to make yourself vulnerable and prone to open judgement. After being plagiarized so many times, sometimes I think it’s a wonder I still make posts and keep letting myself become an easy target for this kind of thing. It isn’t out of naivety, but because this blog is something I enjoy and something I like watching grow. It is where I began, it’s my launching pad. I know I’m not alone in this. For many artists, these tumblr blogs are a start because they are not in the position to or cannot afford to go all out when it comes to sharing their work (by which I mean starting their own website, publishing their own books or commissioning their own art). I’m here now so that one day, when I am in the position to achieve the benefit of these various outlets, I can look back on this blog and see how far I’ve come. This blog has been somewhere I can be a hoarder, collect all my words like antiques and store them for later use. We use these blogs as a channel for independent publication and in hopes of having our voices heard through the multifarious depths of the void, where it’s so commonplace to be drowned out. A single reblog or appreciative comment can make a world of a difference, and help encourage your fellow artists to aim for bigger things. I’m always looking to spread and share people’s art and poetry wherever and however I can, not only because I understand how much work goes into it, but because we’re always hungering for more art, as we should; being advocators of creative expression.
