Sooo I finished up a writing session on my current WIP that was just about 1200 words and for a second I wanted to scold myself for not getting an extra 300, 500, 1000 done. BUT HERE’S THE THING:

I also did a bunch of rearranging/rehashing of paragraphs today and that will help me SO MUCH the next time I sit down to write because everything is so much clearer and easier to jump off from. That didn’t up my word count at all but it helped.

I also did some researching today for future chapters and came to a better understanding of how to portray my deaf character. That definitely didn’t up my word count but it will improve my story tremendously.

MY POINT IS: whether you write 300 or 3000 words it doesn’t matter. As long as you’re doing something that will help your writing in one way or another you’re being productive and that’s enough. YOU’RE ENOUGH!

Unless you’re being paid weekly per word then stop stressing, please.

since so many people like this man here are some facts about him for your reading pleasure:

- his name is Tubs

- he was a street cat before being taken to a shelter

- he was nearly put down because no one adopts cats everyone wants kittens

- he’s really soft

- like… Really soft

- he’ll start purring the second you start petting him or pick him up and it’s the deepest, most soothing purr ever

- he’s really good at sensing when someone is in distress and comes to cheer them up by doing silly cat things and headbutting them

- we have two other cats we got after adopting him and he’s their big brother

- he grooms the dog

- he will lick your hand while you pet him

- he has a white patch of fur on his tummy

- it took us months to figure out what to call him because we’d never had a “family” cat before so we couldn’t agree on a name

- we also call him Big Cat as well as his name because he is a Large boy

- no seriously he’s like 18 lbs

- he goes crazy if you scratch his back near his tail

- he steals hair ties and hides them… he has a stash somewhere but we have yet to locate it

- he opens cupboards and pulls out their contents and then just leaves

- he jumps on the counter and watches while the dishes are being washed

- he demands to be let into the bathroom if someone is in there

- he’s really fascinated by the toilet flush noise

- he has a personal vendetta against anything stick-like like pencils, paint brushes, popsicle sticks, etc. and will steal and destroy them

- he loves NERF darts

- he tries to escape sometimes but he gets like three feet out the back door and just sits there like “what do I do now”

- he’s surprisingly fast and agile for a cat his size

- he’s not even overweight or anything he’s just naturally this big

- he nearly died a few years ago due to a blockage in his urinary tract and is now on special food to make sure it never happens again

- he will go to the door to greet people coming in and loves to be around people

- he will try to steal the other cats’ food if we don’t watch while they’re eating

- he knows he shouldn’t do it because as soon as we approach him he runs off lmao

- he will share my bed with our newest cat Tiramisu when I’m not sleeping in it

- he’s a happy, friendly, perfect cat and I would die for him

- my mom is convinced he and our other male cat are both gay and Tubs is a bear

- I told him tumblr likes him and he headbutted me so I’m relaying it to everyone who liked/reblogged this post he loves you all

honestly if you want to take proper care of your goths you shouldn’t take them outside in hot weather at all, just winter and MAYBE late autumn/early spring if you live in a cool climate

people really should do this kind of research before getting goths at all but as long as they’re willing to learn and adapt i guess

there are breeds of goth suitable for warmer climes but you have to be very careful when looking for one and you cannot assume that your goth is one of them if you don’t know for sure what they are

even the warm-climate breeds still usually do better in their native locale’s winter temperatures though, and shouldn’t be left outside in the summer unattended or, at the bare minimum, they should be given plentiful shade, cold water, and appropriate music to keep them calm

Honestly, if you want something less fragile than a goth, you should be considering something like a punk anyway. There’s no need to expose goths to the heat, IMHO. Admittedly there’s differences you need to do research on, but punks are very rewarding. And for God’s sake, if anyone tells you ANY emo can handle the heat, run. They don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about.

goths aren’t fragile though? they’re not heat-tolerant but they’re extremely hardy in dark and stormy weather, metal concerts, and dramatic emotional episodes. just because they aren’t well-suited to one weather pattern doesn’t mean they can’t be extremely hardy and rewarding to keep under conditions they’re better suited to.

Forget the climate thing, there’s a more important husbandry issue here:WHO THE FUCK PUT THEM OUT IN THE DAYTIME?Direct sunlight is extremely harmful to goths! THey should never be outdoors before twilight!Do your damn research, people.

goths need the opportunity to complain about sunlight, it’s vital to their wellbeing; as long as their time in it is carefully controlled and they’re given sufficient sunscreen and shade, it can be amazing and 100% necessary enrichment

Look at that picture. Look at it. Please tell me where the shade is, because I don’t see any. I see two goths wilting in direct sunlight. Just look at how flat their hair is! This is not even remotely acceptable care.

Fair enough. I’ll concede that a properly-shaded porch or sunroom-type area can help them get the outdoor enrichment and complaining opportunities they need, without putting them at risk of direct sunlight or actually touching anything outdoors. But be careful not to overexpose them.

Aren’t there some varieties of goth that are built for sunlight, or is that me mistaking a similar species for goths?

You’re thinking of either New Romantics - unfortunately presumed extinct, you could tell them apart by their lack of Victorian plumage and occasional colouration - or Emos, which are the product of a crossbreeding with Shoegazers.

you don’t care about the poverty in the appalachia and you don’t care about queer people and/or people of color who live in the appalachia. you don’t care about education in the appalachia and you don’t care that these low rates of education mean higher rates of poverty and child poverty, which persist over the years. rural children are twice as likely to live in areas with persistent poverty. you care that poverty stricken children are statistically less likely to not have timely immunizations, have higher delinquency rates, and have lower academic achievement — but only when we’re talking about urban areas outside of the appalachia.

people in our region die earlier than most. mortality rates are higher in the appalachia, and they’re even higher for people of color that live in the appalachia. suicide rates are higher than anywhere else in the country by 17% — it’s 31% higher in central appalachia, and in rural areas within the appalachia, it’s 27% higher than metro appalachia. cancer morality rate is 10% higher, and it’s 15% higher in rural appalachia than metro appalachia. the appalachia has an opioid epidemic. in 2015, our rate of death with drugs was 65% higher than the national average. 69% of those drug deaths were from opioids. these deaths have a connection to our poverty and education rates. the poorer you are, and the less educated you are, the more likely you are to die from an opioid death.

when i say “don’t make jokes about rednecks and hillbillies”, that doesn’t mean i think you’re being racist against white people (and again — the majority of people who claim this also happen to be white 🙄). i say that because you are perpetuating extremely toxic rhetoric about our region, you are promoting stigma, you are encouraging blatant classism, and you are furthering the idea that we somehow “deserve” it because our elected officials vote republican. it’s not cute. stop acting like none of us have the right to call you out on your classist bullshit. like i’m sorry if this comes off as too aggressive but i am sooooo sick of y’all thinking it’s funny that our region is suffering.

a big problem with the people who say stuff like this is they don’t realize just how many “rednecks and hillbillies” are non-white. there are so many appalachian and southern POC that also suffer through these conditions but people like to cling to their idea that the only hicks are white hicks, so they couldnt care less if places like WV or KY just fell off the map, and to hell with who it is that’s actually hurting.

people also act like it’s only appalachian and southern whites that voted for trump and that vote republican and it’s not true - half of all white women voted for trump. the rich ones and the poor ones. it’s not a problem that’s tied specifically to southern and appalachian white people but it’s an easy scapegoat and allows people to not think about what they’re actually saying.

as long as they can say that it’s just them shitty racist white hicks that are suffering, then they don’t have to actually care about them. they can ignore them and not do anything to help them. like another person said in the notes, the teacher strike in WV is a better example of leftist organization than a whole lot of the people saying shit about hillbillies have ever done but they don’t care about that because, well, theyre just white hillbillies so what does it matter?

This is phenomenal! These young and beautiful women from Mexico are proud of their African roots. The dance is a peculiar expression of their love and respect for the culture they relate to. These women identified themselves as Black and even made the government include them as Afro-Mexicans in the national census in 2015!

This is what Black Pride means. Very inspiring!
