When you are one with the music

WHO IS SHE

That drop took me out. She fuckin shit up. YAS.

THAT DROP. I FLUNG BACK ON MY CHAIR AND SHRIEKED

I am musically inept, like, woah

I hardly know what one instrument is from another and even that I get wrong sometimes!

Can someone please explain to me what, aside from being aesthetically pleasing, it is a conductor does, exactly? It always looks like the musicians aren’t even looking at them and they have the music in front of them to tell them what notes to play– I think. I honestly do not know but am quite interested in being educated o:

Me listening to music at work when I think noone is watching

@chimerafood the conductor is keeping the rhythm and speed of the orchestra in unison.

@chimerafood The conductor keeps time, counting the beat so that everyone plays the piece at the same speed.

@chimerafood the conductor does more than just keep time. The conductor is the one who makes decisions about the interpretation of the piece. Dymanics (loud/softness) are often written in the music, but how loud of soft is subjective and differs with each group that plays the piece. Each conductor has their own interpretation of a work. The orchestra defers to them on all questions to do with this. That is how there is consistency and cohesion in the group when they play.
